2026 Stop the Violence and Get Out the Vote Walk and Summit sponsored by the Birmingham Black Nurses Association, Black Women for Positive Change and the Lawrence Mond Jefferson, Jr. Foundation.
The event will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2026, 9am-12pm at Sixth Avenue Baptist Church and is free and open to the public to all ages.
Nurses will be onsite to share mental health, suicide prevention, human trafficking, bullying and healthcare information with attendees.
Lawyers will be onsite with their laptops to register eligible attendees to Vote, confirm Voters registration and polling locations online and share Voter education awareness information (i. e. what to do if individuals experience problems at the polls, knowing your rights as a voter, obtaining and completing a provisional ballot, how to contact the voter election protection hotline by calling or texting 866-OUR-VOTE (866-687-8683)and providing other voter rights information. We encourage you to encourage young people, students, adults, family members, friends, colleagues, organizations, churches, sororities, fraternities, biker clubs, community leaders and others to attend the Walk, attend the Summit, engage with our panel and candidates, register to vote (if not registered), check their voter registration status and poll location (if registered) and receive voter education awareness information.
We are encouraging our young people who are eighteen (18) years of age and older, and college students who are not registered to vote to PLEASE come and REGISTER to VOTE and PLEASE VOTE. We are encouraging all individuals who have not registered and are eligible to PLEASE come and REGISTER to VOTE and PLEASE VOTE.
